Fresnel zone plates are a type of diffractive antenna, used in place of curved lenses. The zone plates offer numerous advantages, and have seen extensive investigation and application at microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz frequencies. The difficulties of moving to frequencies above 90 GHz are described.
