• To support Unmanned Aircraft (UA) flights within the National Airspace System (NAS) and beyond the operational limits placed on small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), RTCA SC-228 WG1 has developed the MOPS needed for a Detect and Avoid (DAA) system • The basis for the DAA function is the quantitative definition of DAA Well Clear (DWC) • The phase I MOPS for DAA systems include performance requirements for the DAA alerting and guidance functions, but not the algorithm per se • The performance requirements are supported by analysis, human-in-the-loop studies and flight testing
