We have generated images of five tooth slices and three plastic step-wedges over a range of frequencies contained within a broadband terahertz pulse. It is observed that the boundaries between different types of materials (or thickness) are frequency dependent. A quantitative model of such image artefacts, involving the parameters of radiation frequency, sample thickness and material refractive indices, successfully reproduces the experimental data.
