Bias control of Mach-Zehnder electro-optic modulator is important for the performance of radio-over-fiber links. In this paper, a digital controller has been developed in order to keep the bias point at any target value, making the modulator exhibiting great long-term stability. Furthermore, this method was applied in radio-over-fiber links to optimize their performance, such as RF gain, noise figure, and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR), and keep them stably operate in a long time.
