Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular around the world. This is largely due to air quality and environmental laws, as well as customer demand and reducing price of rechargeable energy storage solutions. Furthermore, considerable advancements have made many storage devices, particularly those in Li-ion family, suitable for automotive use. As more lithium batteries powered vehicles become operational around the world, their contribution in traffic incidents are expected to increase. The risks associated with conventional automobiles are well known; nonetheless, it will take time and education to achieve this comfort level for electric vehicles. This article examines the issues that the electric vehicles sector has in terms of high-density lithium battery technology. The study then delves into the role of original equipment manufacturer and cell makers in ensuring a safer future for electric vehicles.
