Several optical techniques and optical approaches to process microwave signals are presented. These optical processing techniques stand for functionalities such as filtering, time-domain processing (time stretching, time reversal, etc.), true-time delay lines, reduction of noise and nonlinear distortion, and digital modulation formats.
