A multi-level power controller is proposed to ensure high power transfer in dynamically varying inductive power transfer systems. The Output power in an IPT system is significantly affected due to coupling factor changes as pick-up coil moving across transmitter coils. Multi-level power transfer is designed to online regulate the transfer power level according to the position of pickup coil with respect to the primary pads. A dynamic wireless power transfer system along with the proposed power transfer controller is investigated as a case study and the detailed simulation results are shown; simulation is done using ANSYS MAXWELL combined with MATLAB.
