The purpose of this article is to study the longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics of a new High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Joined Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (JWUAV) — the Alert Hawk Joined Wing UAV. The geometric aerodynamic shape has been designed according to mission requirements. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method was employed to obtain the lift and drag coefficients of the Alert Hawk JWUAV in three conditions: 1). Re=6.7million, Ma=0.45; 2). Re=9.6million, Ma=0.65; 3). Re=11.8 million, Ma=0.8, and the angle of attack ranging from −2° to 14°. Compared with Flying Wing layout, the results indicated that the Alert Hawk JWUAV has similar lift-drag characteristics in middle and low Mach number, but the pitch moment characteristics have a significantly difference. Meanwhile, the stability margin has no significant change with Mach number increasing in small angle of attack.
