We have developed wavelength-division/space-division (WD/SD) optical switch architecture that needs far fewer semiconductor optical amplifier gates (SOAGs) than conventional space-division (SD) architecture and can provide throughput of 2.56 Tb/s. We have also developed an optical receiver with a fast bit-synchronization circuit which enables packet reception at a bit rate of 10 Gb/s. This paper will focus on these two technologies in describing the optical packet switch, we are developing.
