We have developed a coordinated delivery model for a truck and a drone is proposed to address the problems that occur in certain road sections due to traffic jams or road damage in the case of an emergency. Given the urgent demand for supplies at disaster sites, an optimization model is established for the routes of vehicle-mounted drones aiming to address the maximum urgency at the site. Trucks may carry various types of drones for delivery, and the proposed model takes into account the routes of drones and trucks, the time constraint, and the constraint of synchronization between trucks and drones with an improved differential evolution algorithm designed to find the solutions. The results of a calculation example demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has a satisfactory performance. Compared with conventional truck delivery, the vehicle-mounted drone delivery exhibits a satisfactory efficiency in emergencies. In the context of ensuring satisfaction of demand at disaster sites, the delivery efficiency is not affected by the upper limit of the carrying capacity but rather is improved with a lower carrying capacity within a certain range.
