We report measurements of the photocurrent of a PIN photodiode illuminated by a spectrum-sliced, erbium-doped superfluorescent fiber source. The statistical distribution of the current fluctuation is non-Gaussian. The true statistics predict much improved performance over the Gaussian assumption for spectrum-spliced WDMA systems.
