In this paper, we present and evaluate a new method for optical synchronization using the combined effect of wavelength tuning of the transmitter together with the dispersion in fibers. This scheme is suitable for time division multiplexing (TDM) at high bit rates employing asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switches.
