The current traffic control systems are mainly operated manually, thus leading to unnecessary wastage of time and fuel which can lead to increased traffic congestion. In order to control the traffic an efficient way is to use image processing method using MATLAB which performs mathematical techniques to control the traffic density. Generally a large amount of time is being wasted at the signal even though there is no traffic because the timings for red and green light are fixed for all the lanes which is independent of the traffic density. In order to make the system more effective a web camera is fixed on stepper motor which rotates 360 degree and captures the images of all the lanes. The number of objects will be counted for each lane and compared with all the four lanes. Among the four lanes, the lane with more number of vehicles will be allowed to move forward after receiving the Green signal and the other three lanes with least number of vehicles will be stopped at their respective places showing red light. Since, more vehicles gets added in a lane each second as in a real time traffic it would be efficient to calculate all the lanes vehicle density continuously through video using the web camera and passing green signal to the highest vehicle density lane instead of using of a predefined traffic signal system hence a closed loop system which doesn't take inputs manually from user but snapshots the video of the lanes and segments them into frames and calculates the density of the traffic this makes the system work more efficiently.
