ISRO’s successful moon landing has paved the way for future missions to moons, Mars, and other planetary bodies. A crucial requirement for any successful landing mission is accurate velocity information. The velocity meter provides accurate velocity information of the body. Space Applications Centre-ISRO is working on the development of a radar-based velocity meter that provides three-dimensional velocity data for navigation and guidance systems to aid for safe landing. This paper describes the digital hardware system being developed for the radar-based velocity meter and its raw data simulation scheme.
