Based on the idea of clustering and considering both import and export containers, we research the container yard storage space allocation problem under the dual-cycle transportation mode, establish a mixed-integer planning model for the yard space allocation of container yard with the goal of maximizing the yard space utilization, and transformed it into a two-dimensional bin packing problem to be solved with an adaptive best-fit algorithm. The numerical results show that under different yard layout scales, the utilization rate of yard space is higher in dual-cycle mode than in single-cycle mode, which provides effective reference suggestions for further solving the bottleneck faced by container ports.
