The talk will make a comprehensive comparison between opto-electronic repeaters (OEOs) and erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) from a scalability viewpoint, address dynamic range issues and analyze jitter accumulation and possible ways of circumventing this in a bit rate transparent fashion.
