The field of optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) continues to enjoy widespread interest because of the broad tunability and spectal coverage that these devices offer. In this presentation, we review the advantages of quasi-phasematching over birefringent phasematching, we describe the material fabrication technique used, and we report using periodically-poled lithium niobate LiNbO/sub 3/ (PPLN) in a variety optical parametric oscillator device applications.
