The paper presents critical analysis and current statistical data on recent advances in hydrogen production and supply for the use in aviation sector. The relevance of this research field is substantiated from the point of view of hydrogen potential to mitigate the aviation negative impact on climate. Currently available technologies for hydrogen production are presented and summarized as well as their potential to provide rising needs of industry. Statistical data on capacity of hydrogen production in Europe is provided with the special focus on hydrogen production by water electrolysis. Along with the paper considers forecast for hydrogen demand scenarios for hydrogen-powered aircraft for the period by 2050. The paper also considers current state and future challenges related to hydrogen supply and distribution within airport infrastructure.
