In response to the limitations of a single battery system for electric vehicles during instances of high instantaneous power demand such as acceleration and uphill climbs. The hybrid energy storage system (HESS) combining batteries and ultracapacitors is proposed. Traditional energy management strategies based on rules and fuzzy rules also have inherent limitations. Addressing these issues, under standard conditions, the PSO algorithm is used to optimize the membership functions of the fuzzy controller, with minimizing energy loss as the fitness function, thereby reducing reliance on expert experience. Research results demonstrate that compared to traditional fuzzy control strategies, the optimized fuzzy control strategy stabilizes the SOC fluctuation range and reduces energy losses.
