We present a new method to estimate and remove residual normal moveout (RNMO) of prestack seismic gather based on the S-transform, which is a time-frequency analysis technique, in this paper. By using the time-frequency decomposition, 1D seismic signal is represented as a 2D signal. In the time-frequency domain, the RNMO is estimated and removed. And then the seismic signal is reconstructed. Applications on synthetic and field data show that the proposed method gives promising results.
