The gyroscope configurations reported previously of integrated optic gyroscope (IOG) are reviewed, and the four passive configurations, interferometric IOG (IIOG), resonant interferometric IOG (RIIOG), reflected resonant IOG (RRIOG) and transmitted resonant IOG (TRIOG), are introduced and compared in detail. The sensitivity limit, as the criterion to evaluate the potential of each configuration, is calculated and compared. The results indicate that the IIOG and RRIOG have smaller sensitivity limit than the other two. Finally, the research about IIOG in CATEC is introduced.
