Human life has the highest price. Nevertheless, more than 25,000 people in the European Union die on the road in traffic accidents. This article describes general statistics on traffic accidents in countries of European Union. In addition, it focuses on specific information on the number of road accidents caused by young drivers in Slovakia. The driver, whether young by age or driving experience, is a risky road user also on roads in the Slovak Republic. For this reason, a survey was conducted to determine the characteristics of the behavior of young drivers driving a motor vehicle. The results of this survey are included in paper. These results was used for identification of typical dangerous or other behavior of young drivers in road traffic. At the end of the article, a summary of important measures to improve the safety of young drivers in road traffic can be found.
