This paper proposed a performance evaluation method of Train-to-Train Communication System based on spread spectrum communication technology. It can be part of the main function of Railway Collision Avoidance Assistant System, drivers can also rely on it to obtain distance information in case the train control system is not available. The background information has been introduced in the first section, then the system structure is presented. Thereafter, a formal model of the system using Colored Petri nets (CPN) is built, the timed models for the system and the application process are created for the purpose of system performance analysis. This is followed by a performance analysis and evaluation determined by different selected parameters. The results indicate that it is feasible to analyze the system performance by using CPN.
