The sensor described is based on a Sagnac topology in reflection and uses the properties of its frequency response in order to obtain a self-referenced signal proportional to the measurand signal. In terms of sensitivity the best result was found for K/sub 2//spl ap/0.184 being possible to address the full range of the R parameter. Considering K/sub 2/=0.2 and an off-resonance frequency of 3.25 MHz, a fairly good compromise between sensor sensitivity and sensor linearity is possible.
