We report on relativistic electron acceleration from bulk copper in the wavelength-cubed regime with 0.4-mJ, 25-fs pulses focused to 1.2 /spl mu/m at 400 Hz. Results show electrons with energies exceeding 500 keV propagating toward the vacuum.
