Ultrahigh resolution endoscopic OCT using a broadband Cr/sup 4+/:forsterite laser light source is demonstrated in vivo in the rabbit. Imaging of the esophagus was performed with <4 /spl mu/m axial resolution in tissue and correlated with histology.
