A strong resonance and ultra-compact long-period grating is fabricated in large-mode-area photonic crystal fiber with LP/sub 01/ notch of -31.5 dB at wavelength of 1529.2 nm, and 8 periodic collapses within 2.8-mm-long fiber by using CO/sub 2/ laser.
