Return-to-zero (RZ) to carrier-suppressed RZ (CSRZ) format conversion was experimentally demonstrated at 40 Gb/s. Retiming and CSRZ pulse regeneration were accomplished all-optically. The converted CSRZ signal had timing jitter of 0.6 ps and extinction ratio of 15 dB.
