Characterization by XFROG was demonstrated for NOPA idler pulses with more than one octave bandwidth at /spl lambda//sub c/ = 990 nm. The compression to near transform-limit was achieved to obtain quasi-monocycle pulses utilizing a deformable-membrane mirror.
