First experimental results from ultrabroadband chirped-pulse optical parametric amplification of 1.7 nJ, 12-fs pulses show amplified flat spectra (160 nm) with energies of 50 /spl alpha/J, leading to preliminarily compressed pulses of 28 fs duration.
