Supercontinuum and third-harmonic generation in two different high-n/sub 2/ extruded photonic crystal fibers was achieved at pulse energies of only 40 pJ, using a compact 60 fs mode-locked Cr/sup 4+/:YAG laser, and studied both, experimentally and theoretically.
