We demonstrate a Ti:sapphire oscillator generating 130-220 nJ pulses of 27-35 fs at a repetition rate of 11 MHz. Excessive nonlinearities are avoided by chirped picosecond pulse generation from the oscillator followed by extracavity compression. The concept is scaleable to higher pulse energies.
