The aim of this paper is to present a novel synthetic traffic generator addressed to ATM applications. The goal of the proposed software tool is to simulate a realistic input traffic on the boundary of the airspace domain under study. The aim is to generate a statistical equivalent sample traffic with respect to the real traffic flow. To do so, a software tool capable of generating a traffic sample with the same correlation structure of the real data without assuming any hypothesis on the underlying distributions has been developed. This feature makes the proposed software tool highly innovative as nowadays on the market there is no tool capable of reproducing a statistical equivalent traffic flow until the second order moment.
