We experimentally investigate the use of Linear Optical Amplifier (LOA) in microwave photonic systems and its intrinsic intermodulation distortion characteristics. Amplifier-induced spurious-free dynamic range (>100 dB-Hz/sup 2/3/) is obtained for the first tune.
