For the civil aircraft described by nonlinear models, a new gust alleviation control law is designed based on backstepping. Considering Dryden model of atmospheric turbulence, the rational spectral theory is used to set up the linear state-space model of the vertical gust. Combined with longitudinal nonlinear motion equations of an aircraft, the synthesized system model of aircraft and gust is developed. For this synthesized system model, backstepping technology is used to design a control law about gust load alleviation. Simulation results show that the proposed control law can mitigate the impact of gust on the aircraft effectively.
