The rapid development of high-speed trains in our country puts forward higher requirements on safety monitoring of railway lines, which provides a new application scenario for the wireless sensor network(WSN). This paper presents a banded topology based on a WSN for the environmental monitoring of high-speed railways. A transmission model is established on the basis of the topology control. Considering the constraint of the wireless sensor's energy to the deployment mode, and the limitation of the number of sensor nodes under limited energy, a new application scheme is proposed for the safe monitoring of high-speed railway based on wireless sensor networks. A simulation example shows the effectiveness of the scheme.
