This paper presents a motion system selection method for vehicle driving simulators given a specific maneuver. The reference motion is created using a seven degree of freedom vehicle model and the optimization of three different motion systems is done using Genetic Algorithm. The results show that depending on the application, simpler system can be applied with minor decrease of performance, which is positive due to the cost comparison with complex systems. The method has the objective to enhance the technical argument when choosing a motion system and it can also be used as a design tool for actuators specification, given that it considers actuator's performance since the virtual design phase.
