Flight Information Service - Broadcast mode (FIS-B) provides safety data services for the airport surface and surrounding terminal airspace that complement the pilot's traffic situation awareness. FIS-B encompasses non-control aeronautical information of general use to pilots and addresses potential flight hazards other than traffic. Weather data, Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and the status of Special Use Airspace (SUA) are examples of FIS-B products. This paper will overview a new format to accommodate products, such as NOTAMs, Digital Automated Terminal Information Service (D-ATIS) and Terminal Weather Information for Pilots (TWIP). The format supports just text data or a combination of text data and a graphical overlay representation of the text data. This work was performed for the FAA's Safe Flight 21 Program.
