In today's internet based application scenario ensuring database security and ownership rights protection is a major issue because unauthorized acees to data may lead to a huge loss for the organization. Data stored in the database is asset for any organization, so proper secuity mechanism is needed that safeguards from various data attackers. with the target of providing relational database security solution, We have proposed a novel encryption-decryption methodology based on Hill-cipher technique and XOR based opertaion for securing data stored in the database and then explain the process of performing the query. The complete mechanism of security should be time efficient so that it can be used practically. We also compute the time required to perform encryption and decryption for select and update queries against the various numbers of records and listed out experimental result.
