To enhance the input performance of conventional two-stage hydrogen converters and reduce input current harmonics, this paper proposes a two-stage hydrogen converter with a 48-pulse rectifier as the front-end circuit. The proposed 48-pulse rectifier consists of a conventional 24-pulse rectifier combined with a tapped interphase reactor (T-IPR). The diodes on the T-IPR are alternately switched based on the polarity of the input voltage, thereby enhancing the output states of the rectifier bridge. This increases the rectifier’s pulse count from 24 to 48, reducing the hydrogen converter's input current harmonics to below 5% and achieving an approximately sinusoidal input current. The proposed hydrogen rectifier front-end offers excellent harmonic suppression, a simple structure, low cost, and high reliability, indicating promising application prospects. A simulation model of the two-stage hydrogen converter was developed using simulation software, validating the harmonic suppression effectiveness of the proposed 48-pulse rectifier front-end.
