An architectural design of a Payload Data Transmission (PDT) unit is presented for Earth Observation (EO) data handling and transmission, addressing low cost space missions. The proposed design is based on an hybrid chain-star architecture providing an high level of flexibility with respect to a typical high data rate space mission, allowing a fast time to market and wide possibility of customization for new concepts of space services.
