This paper is written on substrate integrated waveguide (SIWG) filter used for satellite and mobile communication, also in radar application at 17.24 GHz with 440 MHz B.W. In this filter, x shape structure is used for getting the result. Substrate is rogers duroid material. Its application is in Ku band frequency range. Filter design is substrate integrated so there are via holes with metalized pattern. Structure is based on waveguide and so wave travels along the guide due to two thin layer of metal on top and bottom of dielectric. For side wall as guide, there is pattern of metalized array of cylinder. Due to SIWG structure, the device has higher performance, higher reliability and lower cost. There is insertion loss with −0.58 dB and return loss of −28.01 dB at 17.24GHz. The cylinder radius is varied by 0.3mm, the frequency shift of around 1GHz can be observed.
