This paper illustrates the design, analysis and manufacture of an octagonal omnidirectional mars exploration rover chassis. This improvised design of the chassis aims to achieve easier and fast maneuvering and stability at high speeds and on difficult terrains. The chassis is designed to accommodate the unorthodox vertical guide suspension mechanism without compromising the stability of the rover. A remodeled swerve drive mechanism provides for a compact look and easier assembly. This paper discusses the design, analysis, criteria of material selection and the manufacturing processes involved.
