In addition to the numerous destructive attacks across other industries [e.g. Target, JPMorgan Chase, Home Depot and Sony], there are specific threats that are important to the aviation sector ➢ A number of carriers have experienced Frequent Flyer Account Fraud/Theft ➢ Airport Parking Providers have experienced data breaches, including debit and credit card information ➢ Denial of Service Attacks are increasing (example threat actors include: “Anonymous” campaign, @CrusaderTheGod, @AnonOpSaudiX2) ➢ Strategic Web Compromises (“Watering Hole”) — cloned versions of websites are serving malware and collecting data via plugins ➢ Advanced Persistent Threats; example: “Zombie Zero” malware allowed actors to access financial data, customer information, shipping and manifest data.
