Semiconductors, wireless communication and embedded software are transforming the domain of transportation. Completely autonomous cars have already been successfully deployed on an experimental basis. Electrical vehicles are evolving to provide alternates to fossil fuels, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of vehicles. Micro-transportation with electric bikes and scooters is gaining popularity for short-distance communication which is essential for last-mile connectivity for users of metro rail. Long-distance travel may become super-fast with the availability of hyperloops which use magnetic levitation. Development and deployment of automotive electronics hardware and software will provide job opportunities to tens of thousands of engineers. Automotives are being widely regarded as software defined vehicles, smart devices, or mobile IoT devices. The process of training or upskilling engineers who work in the areas mentioned above presents a challenge in itself. In this paper, we develop a framework for an educational program in the area of automtive software.
