In this paper, we have conducted experiments using an intracavity phase element that can be either a holographic phase plate or an optically addressed liquid-crystal light valve. And we have successfully demonstrated the implementation of fixed and programmable intracavity phase elements in laser beam shaping system. Both techniques showed their ability to produce sharp output profiles.
