• An SSCGprocess to develop software has been presented. It relies on the KDD autonomy to make decisions on how to analyze, design and implement avionics software applications. • The approach moves away from conventional engineering solutions by developing software in an self-directed or autonomous manner instead of a purely-automated one (no deliberation involved) as current technologies proposes. • The case study (DAFM) is an initial proof of concept of the methodology proposed. • The case study paves the way towards an autonomous process for software development. It could also be extended system development, including autonomous assembly of system components.
