A side member (2) (example of a second member) formed in a hollow shape is inserted into a hole (1a) formed in a cross member (1) (example of a first member) (member insertion step). An insertion section (A) of the side member (2) facing the cross member (1) is widened from the interior of the insertion section (A) to thereby crimp and join the cross member (1) and the side member (2) (crimping and joining step).
