An aircraft composed of an airframe, an extending tail, a counter rotating, coaxial main rotor assembly including an upper rotor assembly and a lower rotor assembly, and a translational thrust system positioned at the extending tail. The translational thrust system provides translational thrust to the airframe. The aircraft also includes a rotor hover figure of merit greater than about 0.79 for a CT/σ between about 0.085 and about 0.125.

    L'invention concerne un aéronef composé d'une cellule, d'une section arrière en extension, d'un ensemble rotor principal coaxial contrarotatif comprenant un ensemble rotor supérieur et un ensemble rotor inférieur et d'un système de poussée de translation positionné au niveau de la section arrière en extension. Le système de poussée de translation fournit une poussée de translation à la cellule. L'aéronef comprend également une figure de mérite de rotor stationnaire supérieure à environ 0,79 pour un CT/σ compris entre environ 0,085 et environ 0,125.
