R : methyl (preferred), ethyl, n-propyl, 2-propyl, n-butyl, isobutyl, tert-butyl, 5C alkyl, 6C alkyl, 7C alkyl or C8 alkyl; and n : 2-6, where the amount of (I) is at least 80%, preferably 95-99%, when n is 4. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparation of (I); (2) a rubber composition comprising at least one rubber and (I); (3) producing vulcanizates comprising vulcanizing the rubber mixture at a melt temperature of 100-200[deg] C, preferably 130-180[deg] C; (4) an additive composition comprising the sulfur-containing alkoxysilane, preferably bis-(triethoxysilylpropyl)tetrasulfane, bis-(triethoxysilylpropyl)disulfane, 3-(triethoxysilyl)-1-propanethiol, polyether functionalized mercaptosilane or thioester functionalized alkoxysilane and (I); and (5) reducing the rolling resistance of tires, comprising adding a non-or partially cross linked rubber mixture, which is used as a starting material for at least portions of the tire to (I) and then vulcanizing the rubber mixture.
